Exposed aggregate is a decorative concrete finish where the top layer of concrete is washed away while still setting to reveal the decorative stones (aggregate) within. Resurfacing or replacing an existing driveway within the existing footprint generally does not require council approval in Sydney. Widening a driveway or changing the crossover (the section between the kerb and footpath) does require council approval and a road opening permit.
