Core-filled besser block and masonry retaining walls in Sydney — engineered, steel reinforced and rendered to finish.
Fencing and Landscaping Experts provide block retaining walls across Sydney, including the North Shore, Northern Beaches, Forest District, Hills District, western Sydney, the Sutherland Shire and Macarthur. The service means core-filled reinforced masonry — besser block laid on a reinforced footing, vertical steel through the cores and the cores filled solid. Per square metre of wall face, after a free site inspection. Building since 2016, licensed in NSW and insured to $20 million. Phone 0492 879 796.
Block Retaining Walls in Sydney means core-filled reinforced masonry — besser block laid on a reinforced footing, vertical steel through the cores and the cores filled solid. We have been building across Sydney since 2016, from the western suburbs through to the North Shore, Northern Beaches and Forest District.
A block wall is a reinforced concrete structure with a masonry formwork. Starter bars are cast into the footing, vertical reinforcement runs up through the cores, and the cores are filled in lifts — skip any of that and you have a stack of blocks, not a retaining wall.
Conditions change dramatically across Sydney, and so does the right specification — sandy coastal ground, reactive clay on the ridges, sandstone shelf on the harbour slopes and bushfire prone land against the national parks all lead to different answers for the same brief. The breakdown by region is below.

Core-filled 190mm besser block on a reinforced footing, the workhorse structural wall.
Certified design for walls over 900mm, near boundaries, or carrying a driveway.
Sand and cement render, bagged or trowelled, painted in your chosen colour.
A structural block core faced in sandstone, brick or stack stone.
Block wall with a fence or balustrade above, designed and built as one structure.
Higher structural walls where a Sydney block has been cut into the slope.
Upper North Shore: Block walls handle the sustained lateral pressure of wet Upper North Shore clay better than timber, which is why they are the usual recommendation once a wall goes past about a metre here.
Lower North Shore: Block is often the only workable answer on constrained Lower North Shore sites, since it can be built by hand in tight spaces where sleepers or stone cannot be manoeuvred in.
Northern Beaches: Block walls near the ocean need adequate cover to the reinforcement and a good render or sealer, because chloride reaching the steel is what causes spalling years down the track on the Beaches.
Forest District: Block is non-combustible and handles the surcharge from driveways and structures common on Forest District blocks cut into sandstone.
Block Retaining Walls is quoted on the specifics of the site — material, height or wall face area, ground conditions and access. Because those vary so much across Sydney, we give a fixed written price after a free on-site measure rather than a per-metre figure over the phone.
Right across the metropolitan area, including the Upper and Lower North Shore, Northern Beaches, Forest District, Hills District, western Sydney, the Sutherland Shire and the Macarthur region.
It depends on the scale and the location. Standard work within exempt development criteria generally does not; extra height, front boundaries, retaining walls over the 600mm retaining wall exempt threshold, heritage items and bushfire prone land generally do. We identify the path before quoting.
Yes — NSW contractor licensed and carrying $20 million in public liability cover on every job.
Most residential work is completed in one to a few days once materials are on site. Larger and engineered jobs are programmed with a clear timeline set out in the quote before work starts.
Four things, in roughly this order: the material and specification, the size or height, the ground conditions — rock, reactive clay and sand all change how footings are formed — and access, since material that has to be hand-carried costs more in labour than material delivered to the work. None of those four is visible from a photograph, which is why the quote follows a site measure and is then fixed in writing.
