Fencing Contractor Cronulla

In Cronulla's coastal environment, aluminium fencing and Colorbond with an additional anti-corrosion treatment (such as BlueScope's AZ150 coating) are the best choices. Untreated steel and standard galvanised fittings corrode quickly within 200 m of the ocean. We use marine-grade 316 stainless steel fixings as standard for all jobs within the C4 corrosivity zone.

Pool fencing is exempt development under the NSW SEPP (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008 as long as it meets AS 1926.1-2012 — no DA is required. However, the pool itself must be registered on the NSW Swimming Pools Register, and the barrier must pass a council or accredited inspector's assessment before the property can be sold or leased.

Under Sutherland Shire Council's exempt development standards, side and rear fences may be up to 1.8 m high without a DA in most residential zones. Front fences must generally not exceed 1.2 m in height. Fences in foreshore buffer zones or heritage conservation areas have additional controls. We check your specific zoning before commencing work.

Cronulla and many parts of the Sutherland Shire sit on Hawkesbury sandstone. Where we encounter rock within the standard post-hole depth, we use a rock drill to core the required depth, or alternatively use surface-mount post spigots bolted into the rock with chemical anchors — a method that provides excellent holding strength and is frequently used along Cronulla's clifftop boundaries.

Fencing adjacent to Crown land, foreshore reserves or waterway buffers requires approval from both Sutherland Shire Council and the relevant Crown Lands office. We have experience preparing the required documentation and liaising with both authorities. We recommend starting the approval process 6–8 weeks before your intended installation date.
