Infrastructure Perimeter Fencing Sydney — What We Install
Infrastructure sites have different perimeter requirements to standard commercial premises. An electrical substation needs non-conductive clearances, earthing considerations and anti-climb protection; a rail corridor needs fencing that meets the rail operator's specification and can be installed within possession windows; water and telecommunications assets are typically unmanned, so the fence itself is the primary security layer. We build to the asset owner's specification using 358 anti-climb mesh, steel palisade and heavy-duty chain wire, with matching pedestrian and vehicle gates.
Rail, Utility & Telecommunications Compounds
For utility compounds we typically install 2.4m or 3.0m perimeter systems with three-point locking gates, signage rails and optional razor or barb topping. Access hardware can be keyed to the operator's master system, and we can stage installation so the site remains secured at the end of each shift — important for unmanned assets that cannot be left open overnight.

Every infrastructure project starts with a free site assessment. We supply SWMS, insurance certificates of currency ($20M public liability) and installation certificates for tender and procurement packages, and we can work to the asset owner's induction, permit and access requirements.

Palisade fencing is generally considered the most secure options for high-risk sites due to its strength and anti-climb profile. For standard commercial properties, Diplomat (crimped spear) tubular fencing offers an excellent balance of security and aesthetics.
Yes, we can install barbed wire or razor tape toppings. However, local council restrictions apply, especially in residential or public-facing zones. We can advise on compliance.
Standard security fences are 1.8m, 2.1m, or 2.4m high. We can build higher for specific applications, subject to council approval.

Sectors We Fence
Electricity: zone substations, switchyards and transmission easements, where the fence has to satisfy earthing and clearance requirements as well as security. Fence sections adjacent to live equipment are bonded and earthed to the site's earthing design.
Water: reservoirs, pump stations, treatment plants and above-ground assets, typically 2.4m palisade or 358 mesh with anti-dig detailing where the ground is soft or the asset is remote.
Transport: rail corridor boundary fencing, trespass mitigation at stations and level crossings, and depot perimeters. Rail work is scheduled around possessions and requires rail-industry inductions.
Telecommunications and data: compound fencing for exchanges, mobile sites and data centres, usually combined with security gates and access control.
Council and public assets: depots, waste transfer stations, sporting complexes and reserve boundaries, where the brief usually balances security against visual amenity.
Standards and Documentation
Chain wire security fencing is manufactured and installed to AS 1725, which sets out the requirements for chain-link fabric, posts, tension wires and barbed toppings for security applications. Galvanised coatings are specified to AS/NZS 4680 for hot-dip work. 358 anti-climb mesh follows the 76.2mm x 12.7mm aperture specification in 4mm wire.
For tendered infrastructure work we provide a capability statement, current certificates of currency for $20M public liability and workers compensation, NSW contractor licence details, project-specific SWMS, and ITP and sign-off documentation on completion. Where a principal requires it we can supply mill certificates for the fence materials.
Working on Live and Restricted Sites
Most infrastructure perimeters cannot be taken offline. We plan installations so the existing fence stays up until the new run is ready to tie in, work in staged sections so no length of boundary is left open overnight, and provide temporary fencing where a section must be removed ahead of the permanent work.
Night and weekend shifts, escorted access, site inductions, traffic management plans and Dial Before You Dig clearances are all standard parts of how we run this work rather than variations to it.
