Colorbond Fencing in Minto

A lot of Minto was built in one go, which means a lot of fences reached the end of their life in one go too. The original hardwood paling fences behind the 1970s and 1980s homes have all aged at the same rate, and it is common for us to quote one house and then do three more in the same street over the following month.

Minto also has more fall in it than people expect. Streets run across the contours and a rear boundary can drop half a metre from one corner to the other. Rather than leaving a wedge-shaped gap under the panels, we set out the run in steps and finish the base with a plinth so there is nothing for water, mulch or a dog to get through. Where the neighbouring yard has been built up over the years we add sleepers to hold that soil back.

Old fence out, footings in, panels hung, site swept. It all goes into the one fixed written quote before we start. Call 0492 879 796 to book a free measure.

Colorbond Fencing Minto FAQs

My Minto paling fence is falling over. Can it be repaired instead?

Sometimes, but on the original Minto fences it is rarely worth it. When the posts have rotted at ground level the rest of the fence is only being held up by the neighbours fence and the clothesline. Replacing a couple of palings does nothing for that. If more than a third of the run is moving when you push it, a full steel replacement generally costs less over ten years than repeated patching.

How do you handle the slope on a Minto block?

We set out the fall first. On most Minto boundaries the ground drops steadily, so we step the panels in even increments, keeping each section level and dropping between posts. That looks far better than a wavy line and lets us keep the sheeting square. The gap that opens under the low side of each step is closed with a concrete plinth or a sleeper so nothing gets through underneath.

Does my neighbour have to contribute?

Under the NSW Dividing Fences Act 1991 both owners of adjoining land normally pay an equal share of a standard dividing fence. In Minto a good number of properties are managed rentals or community housing, so the first step is finding out who the registered owner is, then serving a written fencing notice on them with the quote attached. They have thirty days to respond before you can take it further.

What colour should I pick?

Woodland Grey and Basalt are the two most common through Minto because they sit well with the brown and cream brick used across the older housing. Monument is the darker modern option and looks sharp on renovated homes. Jasper suits red brick. If several neighbours are replacing at once it is worth agreeing on one colour, because a street of matching fences lifts the whole block.

How quickly can you install a colourbond fence in Minto?

For a standard Minto boundary we usually strip the old fence and set posts on day one, then return to hang panels and gates once the footings have cured. Most jobs are finished within the same week of starting. Whether you searched for colourbond or Colorbond, we give you a start date in writing with the quote and let you know before we turn up.
