High Security Fencing for Critical Infrastructure
Perimeters for the sites that cannot be breached: electrical substations, water and wastewater assets, transport depots, fuel storage and data centres across NSW.
Call 0492 879 796Critical infrastructure sites are specified differently to ordinary commercial yards, because the consequence of a breach is not stock loss but outage. A substation asset owner is defending against copper theft and accidental contact with live equipment; a data centre is defending an availability SLA; a fuel depot is managing an ignition risk. Each drives a different perimeter: clear zone width, panel height, detection mounting and standoff from the asset. Palisade steel fencing — with vertical D, W or TT-section pales on horizontal rails topped with pointed or triple-point pale heads — provides high-visual deterrence and is commonly specified for industrial perimeters, schools and commercial facilities where appearance and security combine. We supply and install both systems across Sydney and NSW.
In practice that means 358 anti-climb mesh or palisade at 2.4m to 3.6m on galvanised posts in reinforced footings, with brackets pre-set for CCTV, PIDS detection cable or electric energisers, and access-controlled sliding gates on the vehicle entry so the fence line is not the weak point. We work to asset owner standards, supply SWMS and as-built drawings, and stage works so a live site keeps operating. For our full commercial service, see security fencing Sydney. All installations are compatible with electric fence energisers, CCTV camera bracket mounting, access control systems and automated sliding or swing gates. We can also install acoustic-rated fencing panels where noise attenuation is needed alongside security.
Fencing and Landscaping Experts has been delivering high-security fencing solutions across NSW since 2016. We work with commercial property managers, government contractors and construction companies requiring compliant security perimeters. Frequently Asked Questions
358 security mesh — also known as "anti-climb" or "prison mesh" — takes its name from its wire spacing: 76.2 mm (3 inches) horizontal × 12.7 mm (0.5 inch) vertical, made from 4 mm diameter wire. The tight vertical spacing prevents fingers being inserted for climbing, making it the benchmark for high-security perimeter fencing in correctional, data centre, utility and government applications.
High security fencing in Australia is assessed against AS 2680-2006 (Security of buildings, Part 2 — Fencing and gates) and AS 1725.1-2010 (Chain-link fabric fencing). For government and critical infrastructure, additional security ratings from ASIO Technical Notes may apply. We specify the correct standard for your security classification and application.
Standard high-security perimeter fencing in NSW is typically 2.4 m to 3.0 m in height. For correctional and critical infrastructure applications, 3.6 m or taller systems with barbed wire or razor wire topping extensions are standard. Height requirements are determined by the threat level and security classification of the facility.
Palisade fencing consists of vertical steel pales (D, W or TT profile) bolted to horizontal rails, providing a deterrent through its pointed pale tops and solid visual presence. 358 mesh is a welded panel system that provides both anti-climb and anti-cut properties. Palisade is commonly used for site entrances and perimeters where visual deterrence is a priority; 358 mesh where cut-resistance and full containment is required.
Yes. We have experience installing high-security perimeter fencing for data centres, electricity substations, water treatment facilities and government buildings across NSW. These projects require precise specification work, compliance with site security classifications, and often coordination with building managers, security consultants and government agencies. We can provide NDA-covered site assessments on request.
